Defence base supports - Here's some insightful guidance on these important buildings
We still have some enemy activity. After this enemy there will always be other reds. So it's always important to have your defences in order. Your defences should be at least on par with your base - so if you have a level 50 base should have atleast lvl-50 def. So get those defences up, if you haven't already done that.
Nod support buildings
And you need to have a support canon in every base, without exceptions!!!
There is NO reason NOT to have one, and many reasons to have one, so its a "no-brainer" really!
If you don't have a support canon, sell of a Silo (Or refinery) that only connects to two fields, to free a slot for your canon.
Upgrade another silo that's connected to more fields instead, one or two levels on that silo and U compensated for the income loss from selling that bad silo. and YOU LOST NOTHING in production.
GDI:
Here are the different GDI canons:
Skystrike: Range 8 coords Strikes enemy Inf, Air and Vehicles alike.
Falcon: Range 10 coords Strikes enemy air only, but with greater force than Skystrike.
ION cannon: Range 12 coords Strikes enemy vehicles only, but with greater force than Skystrike.
For me this one is a no-brainer. Get the skystrike, upgrade it to high enough level and it kicks enemy's ass!
I try and keep the canons at least 4 levels higher than my base defence. That makes it impossible for the enemy to make a good SIM of attacking the base.
SIM (simulator tool) does not calculate the effects of the support cannon. That's why you feel sometimes that the SIM lied to you. It didn't, when the player has supports, then you have to factor in the effects it can make in your own mind.
So the enemy calculates he can kill 6 of your bases, jumps in blazing, only to find out he can only take out one or two of your bases.
NOD:
Here are the NOD supports:
Fist of Kane: Range 8 coords Specialized against enemy Vehicles. (No support against Aircrafts)
Eye of Kane: Range 10 coords Specialized against enemy Aircrafts. (Only supports against Aircrafts)
Blade of Kane: Range 12 coords Specialized against enemy Infantry. (Supports against all units. But very low against Vehicles)
Can't say its a no-brainer here.
But at first glance it seems I would use the Blade of Kane, and have a few extra Blackhands in the defence lines protecting against vehicles.. Someone with NOD experience would be welcome to enlighten us here?
If you're a POI sitter (Most are, only they don't hold POIs with all there bases?) the priority might be towards the longer range support cannons to be able to hit from one POI holding base to another.
On the other hand, if you're a PvP'er, you might prioritize getting protection against what ever the enemy throws at you.
In GDI that leaves only one option, the one with the shortest range has the most versetile protection for you.
NOD on the other hand, seems more complex, but as a POI holder the Blade of Kane protects against all units, and reaches 12 coord.
